Hey girls, I recently came across something that I personally find against my morals, and I simply cannot comply to. Some of you might be aware that I'm hosting a giveaway on my youtube channel because I'm celebrating my 500 subscribers, and some people have been feeling the need to "win" through other measures. I recieved this personal message on youtube about a week and a half ago, and I really felt the need to discuss it with you guys; my beloved blogger girls. There's just some topics I can speak freely about here, whereas it's just not the same on youtube.
So to sum it up in a few sentences, the person is asking me if I'd like to exchange "video views" for winning my MAC products. The most rediculous part in my opinion is the fact that he/she is asking for my to fool my subscribers in exchange to get more attention? What is that? They say they've done it with others before, and this leads me into thinking... is this how other gurus get their viewers?
Personally, I don't feel the need to lie to my loyal subscribers who actually watch me for makeup advice, in exchange for becoming "famous". I would rather my very own hard-earned group of subscribers who actually appreciate what I do, and that I do it FOR THEM. As for "... This will allow your video to be recongnized by the Youtube Community..." No, I do not feel that lying to subscribers and getting false and rediculous video views are described as "recongnized by the Youtube Community." It return, this would make somebody a lower person, and deserve little respect.
What disturbs me even more is that people would find their channel, which would feature my videos if they searched up words such as "tits". Wouldn't that summarize into creepy men who search inappropriate words finding my channel and watching my videos? I'm sorry, but that's not who my target audience should be. I have never thought of benefitting off this giveaway. My subscribers were the ones to give me motivation to make videos in the first place, so this giveaway is to give back, not earn more.
Thanks for listening to my rant today girls.. I know they're not necessarily related to makeup much at all, but I really needed to get this out there.
PS. Happy 4th of July to my American readers!
Tons of Love, Erica
